How It Went Down
Man oh man. You could not ask for a better spring break than the last couple of days. The reaction on Paul's face was just priceless. Here is what happened.
The Hopkins crew got together on Monday evening for dinner. Some of us hadn't seen each other since Jimmy and Hyejung's wedding so it was a great time of fellowship and laughter. Paul's girlfriend, Esther, had gone up to Philly to bring Paul down to Baltimore and would be back late in the evening. The trick was that she would pretend that she lost her contact and make Paul drive her back to Baltimore.
In the meantime, we were out to dinner and waiting for the fateful phone call from Esther which would tell us that they would be in Baltimore in 30 minutes. Finally, the phone call came and we quickly headed back to Yogi's apartment to wait for them to arrive. Esther had said that she would tell Paul that she left her MCAT book in Yogi's apartment which would give her an excuse to come to where the surprise was. Apparently, Paul had just had two exams today including classes, so he was sleepy and grumpy and didn't want to go to Yogi's apartment. However, Esther persisted and Paul walked in the apartment to all of us yelling "SURPRISE!" as well as the holiday of our choice (such as, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, Happy Veterans Day, Happy Canadian Boxing day... you get the idea).

Paul came in thinking surprised and confused. We started talking in order to make Paul think that the surprise was just all of us gathered together. Then James Lieu "convieniently" changed the subject onto "what have you been up to Jimmy?", and talk about Project Corolla started.

I brought out a scrapbook of project Corolla which had been made by Esther and included notes from all of us to Paul. We passed it from person to person with the plan of having Paul be the last person to see it and thinking he would figure out what was going on. The room was eerily quiet as he was reading it. He got so far into the scrapbook and I thought he had figured out what was going on so I yelled "surprise!!!!!". But apparently he had only been looking at the pictures and not reading any of the notes so he was even more confused. We all ran outside and showed him the car. It was awesome to all be together like that and to see the look on his face. It was quite a blessing to be witness to this, as well as to share this time with all these friends.

I'm putting up some pictures in the gallery. Also, Ajin is putting together a video of the whole event.
