Electronic Recycling Update
Knowing that Bestbuy recycled electronics, I went over there on Sunday afternoon with two ancient laptops. Both of them were about 7 years old, and had long been rendered useless in our house. Rather than throw them in the trash, or let them collect dust in a closet, I took them to Bestbuy. To my surprise, they charge a $10 fee to recycle tvs and laptops! To make it up to you, they give you a $10 gift card so it seeeeeems like you're coming out even. But I don't even shop at Bestbuy! I haven't bought anything from them in over a year. Well, since I recycled 2 laptops, I have $20 in BB gift cards now.
I don't like having to pay to recycle. If I had less of a green conscience, those two laptops would have just gotten thrown in the trash can outside Bestbuy. Apart from wanting to be green, there's really no incentive to pay to recycle then. That's why I like Gazelle.com. I'll go with them from here on out, at least for the stuff that Bestbuy is going to charge me for.
