What would life be like if you had to completely trust God 100% to make ends meet?

What would it be like if you used all your resources to bless others?

What would it be like if you were audited by the IRS because you donated "too much" money?

What would it be like if you were actually happier with less than you were with more?

These are thoughts that have gone through my head this week. On Sunday, Brian Wallace preached a message on the parable of the master who gave his servants 10 minas, asking them to "engage in business" with the money, and then asking them to give an account of the money after he returned. The servants who were commended were those who had multiplied the money for the master. The message centered on being faithful with what God has given, and giving out of faith so that God would be glorified. I don't think that necessarily means selling everything you own and living under a bridge, but a challenge was put out there to trust God with your money. In the grand, eternal scheme of things, money is just money. We can't take it with us when we die. But while we are alive, God can easily give or take away your fortunes, but He uses money to grow us in faith. For a while now Carolyn and I have felt challenged to always be giving more, being thankful for what God provides.

After the sermon on Sunday, Brian Wallace asked for 25 individuals to volunteer to come up on the stage. He then proceeded to pull out a giant wad of cash and handed out $100 bills to each of them. The challenge for them was this: "Use this money for God's kingdom and see what happens. But do not be afraid to risk losing it." Overall, the church gave away $7000 to groups and individuals, asking them to multiply it. In January, this money will be returned to the church, and the total amount will be given away to charity. I can't wait to see what happens.

We found out last night that our bible study was also given $100, so we'll need to think of something too.
