Last week, we sent out an email inviting a handful of people to our place to watch the Texas vs. Colorado game. Originally I thought the game was on ABC which meant that we could watch the game in HD with our rabbit ears antenna. Carolyn kindly prepared a lot of food for our guests and we cleaned the entire duplex from top to bottom. Fifteen minutes prior to kickoff, I checked the tv listings to double check which station the game is on:

ESPN. Uh-oh.

This is not good. People are already on their way, and everything is in place for people to spend 3 hours watching a blank tv screen. I think quickly, remembering that ESPN360.com streams all of their games over the interwebs. I connect our laptop to the tv, and connect to ESPN360. They are broadcasting the Texas game. Phew. Not in HD though... "Well, that's a trade-off I'm willing to take" especially since we were gonna have absolutely nothing. The quality wasn't that great on a big-screen, but at least we could follow the game. We still had a good time hanging out together. As we were practically watching low quality internet video, Carolyn mentioned that she was glad that her husband knew how to set this up at the last minute. Although, personally, if I were in her shoes, I would be happier to have a husband that knew how to read tv listings.

No I'm pretty sure it was live. I didn't have the actual tv broadcast to compare it with, but the tv was keeping up with the posts I saw on Twitter:)
