This is what our oven looks like right now. I can't even say that this is a "before" picture because I've already cleaned it a little bit. Anyways, baking soda is amazing. For anyone who has ever cleaned an oven, you probably know that already, but I have never cleaned an oven nor am I a chemist (and therefore know nothing about sodium bicarbonate).

A little back story for you. When we moved into the duplex, our oven was already kinda dirty. Not dirty to where it was gross, but the walls were noticeably unclean. We just kinda lived with it and Carolyn would make these amazing dinners with it. But with oils and drips, the oven got even more messy. Carbon build-up was caked heavily on the bottom! It was caked so much that whenever the oven was on, there would be this charred odor emanating from the oven. Carolyn finally had enough and decided to read up on how to clean an oven. First Google entry said, "Sprinkle baking soda, spray water until damp, let sit. Wipe up the mess."

Amazing.

I would have thought that I needed a chisel and hammer to get through the carbon layers. The first wipe already picked up so much gunk with very little effort. I'll post an "after" picture when we're done.

Let me know if this helps the overall temperature stability of the oven. I think my oven isn't getting hot enough...but it's not that dirty...
