This week in review

This week has been a rather positive and eventful week for me. Here is the Cliffs Notes version of the week of 9/6 - 9/12.
Church: Carolyn and I finally made our transition to the "post-college" ministry at EV Free. It had been a long time coming, but during our first week there we felt very welcomed by several individuals. We also attended a community group with 4 other young married couples in the church.
Friendships: I feel like we've been able to hang out with more of our friends this week than in previous weeks. Over the weekend, Ricky and James came over, we spent an afternoon with Abby who was back in Austin visiting. On Labor day, I met up with Nick for lunch, and last night Oliver and I grabbed a beer at a local pub.
Work: After having had no journal publications in almost three years, this week I received decisions on two of the three papers I submitted over the summer. Not only did none of them get rejected (like one of my papers at the beginning of the summer), but both of them received very positive reviews, with only minor revisions requested by the editors. When the journal articles are officially published, I will buy you a beer (or a diet coke).
Marriage: With a healthy balance between all of the above and our marriage, things have been good around the Suplex. We have been as busy as anyone could be, but I've found myself appreciating Carolyn all the more. The free time we have has been spent together talking about all the things going around us.
Overall, I realize that times like these are fleeting. There are always going to be good times and bad. And a week like this comes not because of how awesome I am (I am not), but only through the graciousness of God. Because even if next week is the worst week ever, God is still to be praised.
