After talking about it for so long, I was finally able to start my car bumper painting project after about 2 months of packed weekends, and not having all the supplies that I needed.

I didn't get to any spraying yet, but I took the car bumper off the car and began prepping the surface of the bumper with 220 grit wet-sandpaper. The purpose here is to remove any bad paint, and also flatten the surface so that it feels smooth to the touch. With chipped paint, you can feel a bevel at the border of the paint and bare plastic. Some before and after pics for your viewing pleasure.

In the last picture you can see the different layers of the bumper paint. From the plastic bumper, to the primer layer, to the actual paint color, and then also the clearcoat. Sanding is pretty fun, but it's pretty tedious. Next step... flexible plastic primer from Sherwin Williams.
