Cork & Co.
Cork & Co is one of our favorite downtown joints. It's a small, quaint wine bar that's great for relaxing and hanging out with friends. In fact, the night before Alex and Teresa's wedding, Alex, Teresa, Geoff and others went there after the rehearsal dinner to just chill before a weekend full of activities. We had a good time just reminiscing on life and enjoying a few glasses of wine.
A little while later, Alex and Teresa gave us a gift certificate to Cork & Co. Carolyn and I went there last night and ended up spending almost 3 hours just talking and hanging out with one another.
We reminisced on what life was like when we first met each
other. Apparently, while I found her attractive, she had already
labelled me in her mind as "The Asian Guy with Glasses". That got
shortened to "Glasses Guy", and then eventually shortened even more
to "Glasses". One story goes like so:
One time we were both at an ECHO leadership dinner and ended up
sitting next to each other only because Carolyn showed up late and
the seat next to me was the only seat left. I wanted to carry on a
smart and witty conversation with the whole table to impress her;
unfortunately for me, I sat at a table with some people crazy about
the show "24" (you know who you are) and therefore had nothing to
contribute to the conversation. I listened intently though as
Jonathan talked about how "24" had "jumped the shark", trying to
find some nugget of conversation that I could grab onto so that I
could jump into the discussion. I was so focused on the
conversation that I completely ignored Carolyn who states she was
trying to start conversation one-on-one with me! Eventually she
resigned herself to the idea that I probably just wasn't that into
her. Oops.
