Back in Austin
After spending more than a week in
California, we are glad to be back! My lab took a trip to San Jose
for a research conference where we spent a few days listening to
talks and networking with other folks in the field of ultrasound
and photoacoustics. I learned a lot, and have come back ready to do
some more research:)
Carolyn and her sister also flew out after the conference was over,
and we spent a good few days with her aunt and grandmother. We ate
a lot, and did a few touristy things. I must say her grandma is
pretty fiesty at 80+ years. What do I mean by fiesty, you ask?
She's still very active, and while she will definitely let you
know what she is thinking, but as you converse with her there is a
lot of joy in her talk. We really enjoyed hanging out with family.
Once again I found myself thanking God for the present day
blessings. "Indeed, he who did not spare his own Son, but gave
him up for us all -- how will he not also, along with him, freely
give us all things?" (Romans 8:32)
