The I-Was-Right-Scrolls
In the news today, the Israel Antiquities Authority announced that they will begin to digitize the Dead Sea Scrolls and make them publicly available on the interwebs. After reading about this, I went over to Wikipedia to read more about these scrolls as it reminded me of something from when I was a kid.
You see, in high school I went to an Episcopalian private school where I took Theology classes in 9th grade. These were classes that exposed you to a lot of different religions, not just Christianity.
One day in class, the teacher decides to have a Bible trivia competition regarding some things we were studying. Our group was behind by one point and the next and final question was going to be worth two points, which means we had an opportunity to win the game.
The teacher asked the last question: "What was the Dead Sea Scrolls written on?"
Without consulting the team, I blurt out, "Papyrus!" as the group's final answer.
The teacher responded, "Wrong! Animal skins!" and therefore I had cost my team the game.
Wikipedia though, states that the Dead Sea Scrolls were written on animal skins AS WELL AS papyrus AND copper!
So take that Ms. McCollum. I WAS right. Hah!
All I'm saying is that it's nice to be justified on something that happened 15 years ago and never mattered at all.
I want my M&M prize candy though.
