Why I Yell at the TV

Last night we had a small Olympics
watching contingent over at the Suplex. At various points in the
gymnastics competition, viewers (Katie... and others too!) could be
heard shouting at the television. Read this article to find out
why:
CNN SI Article on Gymnastics scoring
controversy
Now, the article is pretty tame compared to the comments that were
shouted at the TV last night. Words like "cheating" and "sneaky"
and "belly button?" were used last night, but I guess the article
has to maintain integrity since there is no definitive proof of
cheating to be found here. But you have to wonder what's going on
when the girl from China falls on her knees but then is given
bronze over the USA girl who completed her two vaults?
Again, there is no proof of government conspiracy but the scoring
in gymnastics is just terrible. Bela Karolyi put it best when he
said it was "inadmissable" that they didn't give USA the bronze.
And given all the other stuff that has been in the news regarding China, this latest dispute
doesn't help their case at all.
