I think any time you move out of a place, you end up throwing out/donating a lot of stuff. Things that are especially tossed out are broken things that you never got around to tossing. As I begin to move stuff into Dana Duplex, I'm finding a lot of old electronics that either don't work, or that I have no use for anymore. If it were only one small thing, I'd wouldn't think twice about just tossing it in the trash. However, the pile of computer peripherals and old electronics is growing larger so I looked into electronics recycling today.

There is a company in Austin that accepts all sorts of old electronics and computers called ERT:
Electronic Recycling & Trading Inc.
6106 Baldwin
Austin,TX 78724

http://www.ertinc.com/

They accept everything for free except for tvs and monitors which they charge a small fee for. By recycling these things, you keep them from ending up in landfills, especially electronics which contain mercury. Yikes. You also keep the junk from piling up in your house. I'm sure everyone has a few old cell phones that are just sitting in a drawer somewhere.

Bottom line: Be green, be cool.
