I read this article on CNN this morning which I thought was pretty interesting. The article talks about how mechanics can be shady, but also how you can find a mechanic that is trustworthy and dependable. Since the Lamb's incident a few months ago, I haven't found another mechanic that I can trust, nor that I can recommend others to go to. However, since I do most of my car repair myself, I haven't really needed to find another mechanic.

For the few things that I can't do myself on cars I go to the following places in town:

Car inspections: Arbor Car Wash and Lube (recommended by Chris)
Tire purchase and/or installation: Discount Tire (good service, but more expensive) or Costco (recommended by my dad)
Steering alignment: Acura Dealer (unfortunately since there are no other options for me, although I've heard good things about NTB from Wei).

For car parts I am a frequent visitor to AutoZone.
