Now for an important announcement:

I watched "24" for the first time yesterday!

Cue the gasps from everyone in America. Yes, it's true. Up until yesterday, I had never watched "24" before. I watched the end of one episode once (Jack Bauer was on a submarine or something). Up until yesterday, Senator Palmer (yeah, I started with season 1) was only known to me as "the Allstate commercial guy". Carolyn will attest to the fact that throughout the episodes, everyting Senator Palmer came on, I kept saying, "Are you in good hands? That's Allstate's stand." Up until yesterday, I didn't understand how addicting the show could be.

Anyways, this blog post isn't necessarily about "24", but it's about an observation made while watching the show. We currently have a black senator running for president, and if the latest primaries are any indication, we could have our first black president by this time next year. Maybe the show paved the way for Barack Obama by making the idea of a black president a real thought. It's cool seeing how far Senator Obama has come in the primaries. I'm not saying that I'm going to vote for him, but I like what I have heard from him.

This post could have also been about how we could possibly have a woman president as well, but David Palmer wasn't a woman in "24".

I WATCHED THE WHOLE FIRST SEASON TOO!! Well..like 2 years ago. I haven't seen an episode since mostly b/c it's too addicting and law school kicked in. It's a dangerous show to watch when you have work to do. One day I'll watch 24 again. I watched the whole first season in 3 days. Needless to day, I was really tired at work.

the good news, bloo, is that you have plenty of time to get up to speed on the plot, since 24 isn't scheduled to start up again until next winter (boo). i, too, succumbed to its charms several years back....
