Crash
On Tuesday morning, I was awake in my room getting ready for school when the phone went off. It was Carolyn, and I thought nothing of it since she usually calls or sends txts early in the morning to say hi to me. When I picked up the phone her voice was slightly different.
"Jimmy, I've been involved in a car accident."
She then told me where she was. I quickly grabbed my phone, my wallet, and a digital camera and was out the door in less than 30 seconds. After I pulled out of my driveway, I called her back, told her to stay calm, and make sure someone called the police. She said that someone had already done so and that the police were on their way. Less than 10 minutes later, I was on the scene, first making sure that Carolyn was okay, then almost Tim-esque, I began taking pictures of the scene of the collision.
For me, I was pretty oblivious of the dozens of rubber-neckers who slowed their car down to take a peek at what was going on. I really was only aware of two things: Carolyn taking care of paperwork with the police officers on-site, and the two busted up cars that were sitting dead less than 10 feet away from each other.
Since then, the car has been towed to an auto-repair shop, there have been multiple phone conversations with the insurance companies, with Carolyn's dad, with friends who have called to make sure Carolyn is okay. For me, all of that fades away knowing that Carolyn was okay through it all. Sure she has a few sore joints and muscles, but that is to be expected. But all in all, it is a loving God who showed mercy and protected my fiancee through a pretty crazy crash. For me, that is what I praise God for today.
