It's an odd feeling waking up each day and thinking, "Whoa. I'm engaged." I've also encountered people in the last few days who have been surprised to find out that I proposed to Carolyn. Even my hair stylist was shocked to hear about it. She said part of it was due to the observation that people in Austin seem to date forever before taking the step towards marriage. But Carolyn and I have been blessed to have the encouragement and support of so many family and friends. I couldn't believe how many friends showed up for our engagement party last Friday night. I had only invited 15 people or so, but word got around and when I opened the door to the house we had close to 50 people!

Though it's only been a few days, I've been bombarded with questions regarding the wedding. Rather than jump straight into hectic planning, we've been trying to enjoy our time of engagement. As with many times in life, this time is short-lived and it's probably best to enjoy it while we have it, for the future will bring other challenges and experiences.

I'll post up some pictures from the engagement soon. I've had a bunch of things to take care of this week, so I've been pretty busy with things. In fact, I woke up at around 3:45am this morning so that I could come to work at 5am to use the equipment here. Everyone's trying to get their research done before leaving on vacation.

oh yes...i have some pictures and videos from last friday to send you! i tried to upload them to google videos, but it took too long. it's mostly of carolyn's dad talking and you guys introducing your family, but maybe it will be nice to revisit one day if there wasn't a videotaper in the room =)
