Overheard in Context

Janice told me that somebody who recently met me said to her, "Wow, when you said your brother was working on a PhD in Biomedical Engineering I expected him to be really nerdy. But he's not. I think the fact that he works on cars kind of balances things out."

So there you go. Lesson learned: Working on cars offsets any inherent nerdiness.
