Old Cars
I read two very facinating articles this
morning on AutoBlog.com . Both articles
were talking about two car owners who had driven their cars for
decades.

The first story was about a man who has driven his 30-year-old car
for over 500,000 miles, getting over 50 miles to the gallon. The
car is also on its original drivetrain and exhaust system, which I
find amazing. It's amazing because today I took Janice's 2000
Toyota Celica to Muffin Muffler to get a new catalytic convertor
installed. Final price: $250. The car is only 7 years old, and I
highly doubt it will last 30.
(Here is the second story)
I was also thinking about my own car. I highly doubt it will make
it to 30-years-old or 500,000 miles. Actually, the other night,
Carolyn and I were at dinner with a few friends, and we were
talking about how many teenagers these days are driving brand new
luxury cars. I said that I would not buy my teenage kid a brand new
BMW or Lexus. In fact, I joked that my kid will have to drive my
current car, which at that time will be a very vintage 2002 Acura
RSX. I, on the other hand, will be driving the new car: A tricked
out 2025 model year Mitsubishi Lancer EVO XXIII with the optional
hover conversion mode.
Hey, it could happen.
