Tiny Morsels
My grandma took us to Yang Ming Mountain
(which I just found out is a volcano... great). There we ate at
this really cool restaurant that is usually booked months in
advance if you want to eat there on the weekends. If you want to
eat there during weekdays, the reservations are only booked a few
days ahead. Anyways, I had no idea what to expect. We got out of
the cab and the outside host asked us for the name on the
reservation. Afterwards we were led down a path to this small
building. We were asked to take off our shoes and then entered this
Japanese style room with benches surrounding a large wooden table.
I was confused when the waitress didn't give us any menus but
simply confirmed that there were only 3 people in our party. She
then told us where the tea kettle was in the room, and then passed
out tea cups with dry tea leaves in the bottom.
Turns out that every meal here is the same. There are no menus,
they simply serve you whatever their multi-course meal happens to
be that season. Each course was a surprise and a delight, not only
to the taste buds but to the eyes. Check out these pictures:
Check out the other pictures in the Flickr Gallery. To say the
least, the whole meal was awesome, and was made even more enjoyable
by the atmosphere and the environment in which we were in.
One and a half more weeks until I come back to Austin.
