Sneak Screening
Yesterday, Carolyn and I got a chance to
watch the new Disney/Pixar film, Ratatouille a whopping two
weeks before it even comes out in theaters! Carolyn had pointed out
a calendar bulletin on News 8 Austin saying that they were showing
screenings at Gateway that night. However, you had to be a member
of a film society to get in for free. The bulletin said that
non-members could get in for $4. I called the society to make sure
that that was true. Unfortunately, the website was incorrect, and
instead it should have said that members get 4 tickets to give to
non-members. However, the guy that I talked to said that he would
try to help me out and that I should email this manager guy.
I did, and the manager replied to me and said that he would put me
for two tickets on the guest list at the door. Wow!
When we got there, there was a really long line and it looked like
people had been waiting for a long time. We decided to wait, but
then after a few minutes we noticed that everyone in the line had
paper tickets in Disney envelopes. Carolyn suggested that I try to
find out what was going on since we didn't have tickets. I found
an usher and asked him about the guest list. He confirmed that I
was on the guest list and then Carolyn and I were escorted past
everyone in line and into the theater! Unbelievable. Pretty sweet
deal considering we didn't pay a single dollar.
The movie was actually really good. Those Pixar boys and girls tell
a very fun story. Not only that, we were discussing the movie
afterwards and pointed out that the moral lessons in the movie were
actually very substantial and deep. I recommend watching it when it
comes out June 29th. (I'll be on a plane that day to Taiwan)/
