I know that many of you must be dying to find out what is the "Best Beer in the World". I mean, how could I have mentioned it a few posts back and then not explained what it was. Well, it's none other than Schneider-Weisse Aventinus. Or just known as Aventinus.

It's a dark beer from Germany which already means that it's pretty good. Germans make the best beers, and dark beers are usually better (in my opinion). But for some reason the brewery that makes it has found the perfect blend of wheat and hops... and magic, to make this one of the best beers I've ever had.

I came across it when I was out with some classmates once. We were at Opal Divine's and I was having a hard time picking out a beer. I asked a friend for help and he suggested this beer. My only other question was simple and to the point: "Is it good?"

He sorta laughed and told me this story about how he was at this beer fest and he decided to flirt with the bartender. He made his way up to the bar and upon sitting on the stool, he announced to her, "Let me have the best beer in the world!"

Without missing a beat, the bartender responded, "Coming right up!"

At this point, my friend was totally caught off-guard and found himself without anything else to say. But when the beer was served he realized one thing. This WAS the best beer in the world!

Fortunately, you can get the beer at the grocery store in the special beer sections. They usually sell it in individual 0.5 liter bottles for around $3. However, nothing compares to having it on draft, which is what they have at the Ginger Man. I haven't found many other places that have it on tap so it's always a treat to have it at the Ginger Man. Of course, I don't limit myself to just drinking Aventinus there, as there are a million great beers there, but that's another story for another time.
