This morning I got up like any other day, and got ready for school like any other day. However, I was at the end of my laundry cycle and so I was actually running out of pants to wear. I pulled out my last pair of khaki pants which I wouldn't normally wear to school but there was nothing that I could do. On the way to school, I stopped by Starbucks and picked up a drink to wake me up. I got to school, found a parking spot and got out. After I got out, I realized that I needed to get something else in the car, so I placed my drink on the top of the car and got back in. I sat in the driver's seat sideways with both my legs hanging out the door, as I was trying to reach something on the far side of the passenger seat. Suddenly, a small gust of wind toppled my coffee cup off the top of the car and popped the cup lid off. The coffee spilled all across the side of the car, dripping into the car, and onto my legs. The initial shock came not because brown liquid was coming down from atop the car, but because the coffee was hot. The aftermath came as I realized that these were my only pants left, and that the coffee + milk was spilling into the vents in my dash, as well as onto the carpet.

At that point there was nothing I could do. Since I had coffee all over myself, I couldn't go to school, so I drove home to change. But these were my last pairs of pants. So I worked from home while my laundry was spinning. I ended up doing some work at home as well as reading my Bible which I hadn't gotten a chance to do that morning. I planned on heading back to school after lunch.

While I was at home, I got a call from my friend Katie who was moving today. She needed a hand and asked if I was at my house, which was somewhat close to her new apartment. Since I was still at home, I went to help her out. When I met her, she was talking to one of the apartment managers. Due to some paperwork issues, she had to head back to campus to pick up her checkbook and pay the apartment so that we could get the keys and move stuff into the new apartment. We came back and got everything and then she couldn't find her keys, so we went BACK to campus AGAIN. The keys were nowhere to be found, so we decided to just come back to the new apartment hoping that they would turn up somewhere. Fortunately she ended up finding the keys in the couch in the leasing office! We moved stuff up to the apartment and by the time all was said and done, it was almost 5pm and I figured it wasn't worth heading back to the lab. I came home and have been doing work ever since.

Had the coffee not spilled in the morning, today would have looked a lot different.
