For the last couple of months, I've been running in regular cotton socks. They've been fine, but sometimes my foot gets all sweaty and also rubs against my shoe orthotic the wrong way causing blisters. Multiple people have told me that I need to get some sort of synthetic sock instead. I'm not sure about the physics behind cotton vs. synthetic, but enough runners have told me about this that I've been looking into it. But the cost has really prevented me from buying synthetic workout socks. Until today.

After lunch on the Drag, I wandered into Tyler's where they sell Nike Dri-Fit socks. They're about $10-12... PER PAIR. I was tempted to buy a pair, but I didn't have much time to shop around and see what the best prices were. So I decided against buying them and called my sister instead to see if she could drop by the mall to buy some socks for me. Turns out she was at Ross and so she said she'd take care of them. Later this evening, I came home to find out my sister had bought quite a few pairs of Nike Dri-Fit socks for me. I was taken aback for a second as there were more than $60 worth of socks lying on the kitchen table. But Janice had bought all of these at Ross where they were heavily discounted. She had bought each pair for about $1.50. In fact, two of them had been mistakenly marked as $1.99 and she had argued with the cashier that the price be corrected 50 cents. So now I am the owner of some synthetic socks.

Awesome.

I'll have to try them out tomorrow night.

my toes get blisters because they rub against each other, so i have injinji socks where each toe is individually wrapped in synthetic sock deliciousness. like little sausages. these socks were stinkin' $14, but i wash and wear them for all my long runs. it's worth it.

yes, dri fit anything is worth it. once i got hooked on dri fit, i can no longer go back to cotton.

you need to invest in a dri fit hat. ;-)
