Chuy's Hot to Trot 5k
Ran another 5k this morning. This time I was able to beat the 30
minute mark and finish in 28:45. I want to say that my time could
have been even faster had it not been the crowded race route that
we were running. I think I was still dodging people over a mile
into the race. Originally I thought that the race would take up the
entire road of Lake Austin Blvd, but it only took up half, which
made sense since people still have to drive on the road. Either
way, my Nike+iPod doodad is really off in terms of distance. Given
the time in which I finished, my pace was about 9:15"/mile. Can I
run faster? Perhaps we'll see next time.
The route was pretty fun in that it went into the neighborhood
surrounding Hula Hut and Mozart's. However, the last mile or so
was really painful for me because it was all hills. In fact, I kept
thinking that there was just one more hill before the finish line,
when in fact there kept being hill after hill. I started running
faster and faster over each hill because I thought that it was the
end. And by the finish line I was just so relieved to be done that
I wanted to collapse into the grass.
My favorite part of these races is that there's free Powerade at
the finish line. I love Powerade.
