Improvising
Tonight I went with C. to watch Harry Connick Jr. live at Bass
Concert Hall. It was so great. The guy, and everyone on his band,
is so incredibly talented. All the music was inspired by or
composed by artists from New Orleans. The concert once again
solidified jazz as my favorite musical genre. Harry Connick not
only played the piano, not only did he sing, not only did he
dance... ! But he also told some jokes, laughed with the audience,
calling one lady a pervert (weird), another couple a crackhead
(odd), went into the audience to greet people, and brought a
married couple up on stage so that he could serenade them. It was
quite a night.
I originally wasn't planning to go since I only found out about the concert two days ago. By that time, the concert was already sold out, save for seats in the upper stratosphere (aka, second balcony). Fortunately, a quick search of eBay and Craigslist resulted in a few orchestra floor tickets that were being sold well under face value due to extenuating circumstances. Anyways, I'm really glad that this guy was selling his tickets, because the concert was amazing!
I am still raving about it in my head.
