Jam Packed Day
Saturday was pretty exhausting for me, but
fun. As you may know, I ran a 5k in the morning which was a lot of
fun. I'm learning to get in the zone when I run and just enjoying
the moment. Again, the iPod helps a lot as I kinda just get lost in
the music and then it's just me and David Crowder running on the
open road. I think it's fun running with friends, even though we
didn't necessarily run together. Ricky, Michael and I all got
separated within the first quarter-mile of the run, but it was good
to meet up after the finish line and drink free Powerade:)
After the race, I came home and showered again (I showered that
morning just to relax myself before the race). Then people came
over to work on a car. This week we changed the timing belt out of
Jonathan's 99 Accord. Everything went pretty smoothly except for a
single adjustment nut which would not come off. To get it off, we
ended up breaking a ratchet and spending $12 at Sears to buy a tool
to finally get the nut off. The whole job took about 6+ hours, but
had it not been for the nut we would have finished in about 4 hours
(A mechanic usually charges about 4-5 hours of labor for a timing
belt job). But, as my dad said afterwards, these are all learning
experiences when working on projects. So in the end, we finished
the job, gained some experience, added another tool to the
collection, and I got to hang out with friends for a few hours. Not
a bad Saturday in my book.
That evening I went out to dinner with my parents. As we ate, we
talked about school and other stuff, I was impressed at their
generosity and thoughtfulness towards others, even towards
strangers. I think I have a long way to go in that area of my life.
We came home and I pretty much went straight to bed at 9:30pm. The
only downside to that is that it's 5:30am right now and I've been
up for about an hour. I'm pretty wide awake now although I think
I'm gonna try to get some more sleep before church. And yes, I
plan on setting the alarm this time so I actually wake up
ontime.
