Humility and Respect
This past Wednesday, I had breakfast with
my friend Jonathan. We talk about a plethora of topics whenever we
meet, and usually one of the topics involves something that I've
posted on this blog recently. It's not that I necessarily post
interesting things, but mostly because I post things about my daily
life and we talk about what's going on with each other.
So anyways, Jonathan brings up a blog post I wrote a week ago
regarding Rez Week at UT. Regarding it, we talked about theology,
some convictions from Rez Week, and Rez Week in general. In my post I talked about
things that the speaker, Jaeson Ma, had talked about, and some of
the ways that I disagreed with what was said. At the same time, I wrote that I didn't want anyone to dismiss what Jaeson had said throughout the week if they also had disagreed with certain things. I expressed my concern to Jonathan at whether or not I should have posted my thoughts about Rez Week. There have been times in the past where I have not spoken
things out of love, but out of pride, and really looking back I realize that that was not helpful to anyone. To make a long story short, Jonathan
was very encouraging in saying that he thought that if Jaeson Ma had read my
post he would not be offended, but would thoughtfully recieve what
was written. I responded by saying something along the lines of,
"Yeah right. As if he would ever find my puny blog."
Well, he found my puny blog:)
I checked the comments last night and found out that Jaeson had
left a comment 2 days ago in response to my post. In it, he demonstrated a lot of humility in what he wrote. You can follow the link above to read it for yourself, but to say the least, I think he shows the utmost character here. Again, I really admire his passion for the Gospel, and so his response here makes me respect him even more.
