You ever have one of those days where you feel like you're stuck in a David Powter song? Well, today is one of those days for me. After having spent the entire weekend working on my grant proposal, I come into the lab having gotten very little sleep for the past 3-4 nights. Not only am I sleepy, I have a few more things to fix in my grant proposal, all of which need to be taken care of before noon. I rush to get these things done, and thankfully I finish them on time.

Lunch comes by and I eat some bad mexican food, which leaves me nauseous and with a stomach ache for the rest of the day. After lunch, we have a lab meeting and I'm starting to feel gross. The meeting goes a little longer than it should, which was pretty painful for me. At this point, I'm sleepy, have a headache, and need some Pepto. The only thing that keeps me going is the thought that it's 3:00 and I'm pretty close to going home now. After the meeting, I needed to meet our department's grant writer to go over my grant one last time before she FedEx'ed the packet to the NIH Foundation. What was only supposed to be a 15 minute check turned into a two hour ordeal as I was missing a few things in my grant. I quickly scramble to get those done, and end up leaving campus around 5:30.

I drive home through rush hour traffic and make it home. As I get out of the car, I decide to bring my iPod mini out from my car and upload some songs from my computer. As I step in the door, it falls out of my pocket and onto our wood floor. I picked it up and saw this:

Dang it. Fortunately, the iPod still plays and syncs just fine. Since I only use it in the car, it doesn't really need a screen, but I ordered a replacement LCD screen off of eBay for $20.

Amidst all of this, I got an email today saying that I didn't get selected for an award that I had previously applied for. I wasn't expecting to get it, but I wish I hadn't found out about it on this particular day.

Maybe tomorrow will be better.
