Wow, I just got an email from the International Society of Biomechanics. Apparently, I recieved a $1000 travel grant to go to Taiwan this summer for their annual conference. I was not expecting to get this. In fact, I thought I was certainly not going to get to go to Taiwan anytime soon. Hopefully if I do end up going to the conference, I can make a few side trips to see my grandparents and other relatives. Better start beefing up on my Taiwanese, as well as some Mandarin phrases for when I'm out in the city. A phrase like, "Anyone know how to speak English?" will probably help me a lot.

It's funny because just yesterday it was on my heart to plan a trip to Taiwan sometime in the near future. My grandparents are getting old and I want to maximize the opportunities that I have to see them. Same with other relatives too. I have an aunt, uncle and grandaunt who live in New Orleans. I haven't seen them in a few years either, and I feel like I need to make a priority to visit them too.
