Pluckers
There's a new Plucker's restaurant that is opening this weekend on South Lamar. Right now they are in the midst of training new staff, so tonight I got to go to one of their "practice sessions". It's by invite only and you get to go and eat for free. They let you order pretty much whatever you want.
I went with my friend Michael who had an invitation. He also invited my friend Moses, so it was the three of us. All I have to say is that there's nothing like going to a restaurant with some friends and then being able to get up at the end of the meal without paying anything. The only qualm I had was that the service was really slow, although that's to be expected if you've got waiters/waitresses who are in training. At one point we thought our waitress had quit her shift because we hadn't seen her walk by in at least 20 minutes. But it was still good. We just continued to sit there talking and catching up with each other. At the end, we ended up leaving a tip for our waitress since she looked a little overwhelmed with this whole "dress rehearsal". She said she was in charge of 6 tables, and there were constantly people who needed stuff, so she looked pretty frazzled by the end of the evening.
The great thing is that the restaurant is in front of Pep Boys, and also right next door to Harbor Freight. This makes it a prime location for lunch on car days:) Maybe we'll have to start breaking the "McDonalds for lunch on car days" tradition now.
