Bowler
Another Austin first happened for me on Monday night. I went with some ECHO guys to Dart Bowl down off of 2222 for their Monday Mania. Apparently this happens every Monday night and it's a big deal. This is a huge bowling alley with a ginormous parking lot. They've got 32 glorious lanes of bowling and each game is $1 on Mondays. Shoe rentals are also $1.
The night is supposed to start at 9pm. However, some of us got there early at 8pm to have their famous enchiladas. I know what you're thinking... at a bowling alley? Yes, another thing they have there is a sit down restaurant that serves a bunch of stuff, but most well-known for their enchiladas. However, we thought getting there at 8 would be plenty of time to eat and then bowl. When we got there though, there was already a pretty long line for bowling signups which starts at 8:30. We jumped in line and got a place on the waitlist. However, there were people who showed up at 8:45 who never made it onto the list. After getting on the list, we ran over to the restaurant and quickly hoovered down an enchilada dish. When 9pm came around we were rolling balls like nobody's business.
Most of us stuck around for 3 games. My first game was my best with a 163. I had hoped to beat my alltime record of 175, but perhaps next time. After that, it was all downhill. The next two games netted me 130 and 120. Work has been pretty crazy, so I tired out really really fast. All in all, bowling is such a great game for guy bonding. There were a few new people there whom people had brought, but we all quickly got along. Something about yelling at each other while knocking pins down just makes guys happy. Okay, I'm sure it's a little more deeper and meaningful than that.
