Spent last night working at ACC again trying to finish up all the A/V wiring for this upcoming Sunday service. For those of you who have been in the John Sung building at ACC, you know that the ceiling in the main sanctuary slopes upward into a point, about 20 feet up above the ground. Yesterday, I was involved at that height for quite awhile.

Jamie and I were responsible for suspending the rear projector from the ceiling at the highest point. While usually I am quite comfortable on a ladder, we didn't have a 20 foot ladder, nor would we have known where to get one. But we did have the scaffolding equipment from Taylor Hall. Its a platform that is supported by posts on wheels. It put us at the exact level that we needed to be: Freakin'  high.

Jamie and I are both ridiculously afraid of heights and neither of us wanted to be standing on a platform 20 feet in the air with no guard rails. I do have to say that Jamie was the bigger man (figuratively, but also physically of course), and he got up there while I stayed on the ground most of the time and offered hypocritical encouragement like, "Hey, be a man and stay up there!" or "I'm glad it's you up there and not me!"

At one point the task required two people and so I had to get up there on this wobbly platform. As we were working up there, even though we were standing with our feet perfectly planted, I could feel the platform still shaking from our knees knocking in pure scaredy-cat form.

But the important thing is that we were able to connect everything up and get down safely. I am confused at how Jamie is afraid of heights, being one of the tallest people I know. I mean, he's probably in another atmosphere than me:)
