After church this afternoon, I found myself back out on Town Lake for about 2 hours. My desire to go back out on the water was due to a lot of things: boredom, a need for exercise, looking for a unique quiet place, and just wanting to ponder on life. I found an answer to all those things out on the water. I originally brought a book to read out there, but the wind was blowing a little too much that the kayak wouldn't stay still and I would inevitably drift out to the middle of nowhere without focusing on rowing. Either way, it was a good time to just enjoy Creation, and spend time talking with the Lord.

At the end, I cut my time short because of scattered showers in the Austin area which made the waters slightly choppy. In fact, on my way back to the dock, I was fighting somewhat of a headwind which sucked not only because it made it harder to row, but because the wind was causing waves which caused the kayak to fall into the troughs of the waves, slowing me down even more.

I came home and checked a map of Town Lake to see how far I had gone. Apparently I had gone all the way to Town Lake Metropolitan Park, which was about a 2.5 mile round trip from the dock. When I got to the park, I thought it was just a small little island in the middle of the lake, and so I got off and strolled around, but I didn't see anything of interest there so I just got back in the kayak and continued paddling. Maybe next time I'll explore a little more.
