I forgot to turn my alarm clock ahead one hour last night. So this morning when I woke up and saw the red numbers on my digital clock shining "9:35" at me, I thought I was in good shape. I had overslept and was too late for big service, but I was still okay for the ECHO service which started at 11am.

Then it hit me.

I hadn't changed the alarm clock last night and today was daylight savings. The clock had lied to me. It was 10:35 and I was going to be late. I jumped out of bed, hopped into the shower and got ready as fast as I could. I ended up making it to church around 11:10. Ten minutes late and the band was well into the second worship song of the morning. The room seemed unusually crowded today. Perhaps everyone else was a lot more responsible than me? Maybe. I found a seat in the back next to Pastor Joel. The speaker was once again, Kirk Avery, giving his 3rd and last talk on biblical community. This guy is a powerhouse, preaching the Word like there's no tomorrow. As he starts, people are drifting in here and there. I figure I'm one of the last people anyways. Someone sits in the empty seat next to me.

As the sermon goes on, I noticed I was getting distracted by some excess noise from behind me. I turned around and large groups of people were filing in. Not just one or two people.... but GROUPS. I looked at the clock on the back wall- 11:30. Dang. Later on, even more people. I look at the clock again- 11:45. Wow. Service is almost over. I look around and a lot of people turn around to see what all the commotion is in the back of the room. People keep coming in... and by the end of the service, the room is even more packed than it was when I walked in.

Good thing I didn't miss too much of service today, but I need to be more careful about time changes in the future.

Oh well... there's always next year.
