So this weekend we watched the poor Duke v. Texas basketball game. It got so bad that people started fading away and doing their own thing. Scott worked on his crossword puzzle, Marian chatted with other ladies at the house, Chris worked on his computer, and I finished reading "Humility: True Greatness" by C.J. Mahaney. Towards the end, the author gives an example of joy in God in the midst of suffering. I read Habbakuk 3 and was just floored by this passage:
Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
(Habakkuk 3:17-18)
It's remarkable to see Habakkuk's response in the midst of his world crumbling before him. I pray that I can respond like this to the lesser trials in my life.
