Church was excellent today. Haven't been this excited about a sermon in a while. Rob Harrell spoke this morning at EV Free on Galatians chapter 1. The title of the message was "No Other Gospel". Pastor Rob emphasized the burden and importance of preaching the correct biblical gospel. While he said that he himself feels the burden very heavily as a preacher, everyone is responsible for not only presenting Jesus Christ correctly and accurately, but also we should be living lives that totally reflect the freedom that we have because of the saving work of the Cross.

To be honest, this is preaching that I need to be hearing on a regular basis. This message was the first in a series of messages on having freedom in Christ, and I'm really excited to hear the rest of the messages.

During lunch we had an interesting brief conversation on what the purpose and idea of missions is. Is a trip that helps feed the poor considered missions? If you go on a mercy based trip, is that missions? Or more specifically, can you call it a missions trip if you do not preach the gospel there? Alan brought up the point that while not every trip is necessarily missions-based in that there is evangelism that takes place, most all service trips from the church are "missions-oriented". That is, the purpose of all these trips is ultimately to see people come to know Christ. So if you are involved with preparing the way for people to preach the gospel, or you are involved with following up after evangelism, the purpose continues to be furthering God's Kingdom.

After lunch I headed over to ACC and helped Chris set up John Sung in preparation for next week's first service in the new building. Things are coming along very well although there is still a LOT of work to do in the next couple of days. I'm excited to see what everything will look like, as well as visiting the service next week.
