I heard on KISS 96.7fm yesterday that there was an emergency shelter at
the Toney Burger Center in south Austin. There are already hundreds if
not thousands of people there. The Austin schools are allowing for the
kids there to attend school while displaced out of New Orleans. The
current plan that I heard is that New Orleans is gonna be out of
commission for a few weeks or months. These families could possibly be
there till December. Honestly, my heart just goes out to them. I'm
trying to see if its possible to visit the shelter to see if there's
any way to help these people. Even just taking them out for a meal is
something. I'm sure food rations just stops tasting good after a while.
I'd be longing for a big mac or something:)
